Nobody ever expects to have a limb amputated.  It can probably also be said that nobody ever expects to be a prosthetist.  That being said, amputees and prosthetists interface every day all across the globe.  Amputees must trust the expertise of their prosthetist.  Prosthetists are entrusted with being the most knowledgeable practitioner possible.  No such perfect world exists.  Every amputee will have questions about the process, and their prosthetist will do their best to clear things up.  The best way to clear things up is to ensure that we are the best listeners and communicators that we can be.

A focus on being a great listener can be very complicated in today’s corporate healthcare landscape.  Over the past few decades small, boutique prosthetic clinics have been going extinct.  The rapid decline of boutique prosthetic clinics has made it relatively impossible for prosthetists to focus on listening to their clientele.  Enormous conglomerate corporations have been buying up boutique clinics by teaming up with venture capital.  With the advantage of venture capital, large marketing budgets pay sales staff huge sums to drum up business in bulk.  That said, these large conglomerate prosthetic clinics are forced to cut costs on everything that actually matters, the amputee.  Highly paid sales forces help conglomerates to dominate a disproportionate market share.  Their team of prosthetists is subsequently forced to work under the gun.  Monthly quotas are discussed at least once per week.  Amputee outcomes are degraded to a mere monthly quantity.  Venture capitalists don’t ever invest for any other reason than turning profit.  This dilutes the capacity for their prosthetists to consistently focus on happy outcomes, rather it concentrates their need to singularly focus on the quantity of amputees they saw.  This business model has become the rule rather than the exception.

At Launch Prosthetics our mission flies in the face of the big business clinics whose focus is the balance sheet.  Here, at Launch Prosthetics our mission is simply the golden rule.  We reject the principles of private equity firms.  We never abide by monthly quotas.  We are not finished creating solutions for amputees until amputees are fulfilled with their outcome.  This is not negotiable.  Launch does things one way, the right way.  The amount of time to get the job done correctly cannot be fit into a monthly budget.
